About Saxon

Johann Sachs, emigrated to Australia in the early 1800's, where he founded and managed a carrying business which operated between Ballarat and Bendigo during the Gold Rush. His son Emil Sachs purchased Alfred Shaw's Plumbing works in 1897. Consequently, E.Sachs & Co was established in Brisbane and manufactured Coolgardie meat safes and gold panning dishes. Later automotive radiators and mudguards were manufactured. Business was brisk as the streets of Brisbane were washed with salt water.

Products manufactured in the past by Saxon include nails, rainwater goods, down pipe and guttering, builders' wheelbarrows, wood & gas stoves, domestic solar, electric and marine water heaters. Projects of historical note, were the casting of four ornate clock faces, each weighing 1.3 tones, for the tower of Brisbane's famous city hall. E.Sachs & Co was renown for the high quality wood stoves produced by its foundry in the 1930's.

Personal, family involvement in the Company's operations has been a significant factor in Saxon's success. In 1985, the organization that for the past 30 years had been a listed Australian Public Company reverted once again to the status of a private Company, under direct family management.

Today, Peter Sachs Industries Pty Ltd (trading as Saxon) is a wholly owned and operated Australian manufacturing business, supplying the quality products to the building, plumbing and marine industries. The company's core business is the manufacture of environmentally friendly water heating products for domestic, commercial and marine applications.

Saxon's policy of continual product improvement has lead to the development of an extensive testing facility for the on-going development of solar, heat pump and marine water heaters. Saxon remains committed to the development of high quality innovative and environmentally friendly products at affordable prices for the Australian and overseas markets.
